50 years of Temple Orthodontics

I am often asked “what does the future hold for Temple Orthodontics?” But the real questions ought to be ‘what does Temple Orthodontics hold for the future?” Temple Orthodontics affects the future of innumerable young patients, the future of health care delivery systems, the future of services provided to the needy, the future of alumni/ae pride, the future of the link between academia and industry, the future of intellectualism, just to cite our short list. It is our long-stated mission to affect the future.

The future promises to add significant advances in technology and biotechnology. Many of those have been invented by Temple Orthodontics. We are now working to make them available to the public. But we are not finished; currently, many more advances are in their embryonic state of making. Once brought to the clinic, these advances promise to affect the lives of many who today cannot afford orthodontic care.

Unfortunately during the past 20 years, our facilities have fallen seriously behind the times. Novel technologies are developed in state-of-the-art facilities. Indeed, it is impossible to develop a novel 3D imaging technology with a hand-held calculator. It is equally impossible to educate the future generation of clinicians of science without novel technology. The renovated Department of Orthodontics will be the portal into the future, and a legendary model for others to follow.

The images seen in the following pages is our proposal for the future appearance of the department… We call on all our friends to make the destiny of temple Orthodontics happen.
